Why I Think Apple Can Make The Ultimate E-book Reader

I've wanted an ebook reader since the Kindle first debut. I've held off because I know the second I buy one, a book will be released in a format that only another E-book reader has and then i'll be angry. Very much so. The Kindle only gets books that amazon sells which is a good selection with good prices but it isn't every e-book possible. The Nook buys books from B&N and E-pub format. The Sony ones get from E-pub and I think from a Sony store. This closed garden book store environment has me holding back from a purchase which otherwise would be very fulfilling for me. In the mean time i've been doing my reading on the iPhone using the stanza app, kindle app, and the B&n app buying everything I want from who ever has it, or has the best price and its been great except that i'm reading on a 3 inch screen which gets old quickly. If Apple makes a tablet like everyone is saying, it would be the ultimate ebook reader for me if it has access to the app store and these e-book reader apps. I'd get the large screen, the option to buy from ANY of the stores or even make my own with stanza. Furthermore it would add another Apple device to my repertoire, yea i'm a fanboi if you can't tell. I'd also bet money it'll look better than the Kindle, or even the nook only downsides will probably be battery life and most certainly price.

Do Hackintoshes Hurt Apple?

I know Apple is clearly against the idea of hackintoshes, Apple is against the idea of anything it can’t completely control with an iron fist.  But Apple should embrace the osx86 community, if it wasn’t for my hackintosh I’d never be the apple fanboi that I am today.  Before building it I couldn’t fathom spending the type of money required for an iMac or Mac Book Pro over a Windows equivalent, but after using my hackintosh for about 6 months I am 110% committed to only buying Apple computers from now on.  The hackintosh was essentially a test drive which showed me that this is the computer brand I intend to drive.  My machine works 100%, except I haven't updated since 10.5.6 out of fear of breaking it.  I know I can, and have a 99% chance if I follow the instructions the upgrade will go smoothly but I rather not risk it.  That nuance has led me to want a new 13 inch Mac book pro or 24inch Mac book more and more, but even if I could upgrade without fear, I’d still want the Apple machines.  I feel the product is worth the premium, an opinion I wouldn’t have were it not for the hackintosh I’ve built.  My good friend built a hackintosh, and 4 months later purchased a 13 inch Mac Book when he never would’ve dreamed of paying the premium for an Apple computer before hand.  Other people just want to control the hardware in there OSX machine so they go the hackintosh route which still puts money in Apples pocket when they buy iLife, iWork, Aperture, Final Cut Pro, etc.

I wonder if deep down Steve realizes this and actually embraces the OSx86 project?  Naaah I doubt it.

Do you think hackintoshes help or hurt Apple?
